Parun SOHN Po-kee,
A pioneer in Yonsei prehistoric research.
Parun SOHN Po-kee excavated the ruins of Seokjang-ri, Gongju in 1964 and revealed that Korean history existed from the Paleolithic period. After that, by investigating numerous prehistoric relics such as Jecheon Jummal Cave, Cheongwon Durubong Cave, Danyang permanent rock shelter, Tongyeong Sangnodae-island Shell Mound and Yangpyeong Andeok-ri Goindol, he ultimately made Yonsei University Museum become a specialized institution for prehistoric research in name and reality.
To mark the 10th anniversary of Professor Parun SOHN Pokee’s death, we have prepared a museum talk about Yonsei University’s prehistoric excavation history. With Cho Tae-seop, director of the museum, let’s look back on the history of prehistoric excavations that Professor SOHN devoted his whole life!
