Class Introduction

[Course Overview]

K-Cinema: Explorations in Korean Culture, Design, and History is a non-degree course in the International Program of Yonsei’s LearnUs Online Platform. Students from all backgrounds and majors will find this an informative, fascinating and enjoyable introduction to one of the world’s fastest-growing cultural phenomena: K-Cinema. Using two well-known Korean films produced in the Incheon area as our primary sources - Chinatown (2015) and New World (2012) - class sessions are divided into subtopics that appeal to a diverse range of interests and perspectives (history, textual analysis, interviews and field trips). This is a course where everyone is encouraged to participate, enjoy, and discover something new about Korean culture!
