High technology in the Paleolithic period
Micro-blade tools at Seokjang-ri site
Yonsei University Museum excavated the remains of Seokjang-ri, Gongju in 1964, and these are Korea’s first Paleolithic ruins. Very small stone tool was discovered from the site of a house built 20,000 years ago there. This is micro-blade tools which was born amid technological innovation for continued tens of thousands of years, so called the high-tech from the Paleolithic period. Micro-blades are very small to hold, usually 2-4cm long and 0.4~0.8cm wide. How did Paleolithic people make these micro-blades and why did create them?
