“Grain grinder from the Neolithic era, Gal-dol & Gal-pan in Sangnodae Island”
In 1978, Yonsei University Museum excavated the remains of Neolithic shell mound in Sangnodae Island, Tongyeong. Various artifacts such as chipped stone tools, polished stone tools, Comb-pattern Pottery, harpoons, fishing tackles, bone needles and clam bracelets were excavated there, too.
Among them, Gal-dol and Gal-pan, which are paired with each other, were precious households at that time as they are the first grain grinders in the Neolithic era, when farming and processing food began.
Curator Seo In-seon will show you the Neolithic era’s life, lived by the water of the island village and used Gal-dol & Gal-pan, through the relics of Sangnodae Island.
