근세 동아시아 사회와 그리스도교

<강좌 개요>
본 강좌는 ‘세계사로 보는 한국사’란 관점에서, 예수회라는 가톨릭 선교 수도회를 통해 16~18세기 동아시아에 그리스도교가 소개되고 한·중·일 각 사회에 수용되는 양상이 갖는 보편성과 특수성을 함께 살핀다. 16~18세기 근세 동아시아에서 그리스도교 수용을 둘러싼 정치적, 사상적 갈등을 이해하고, 한국, 중국, 일본이 공유하는 종교적, 사상적, 문화적 유산을 통해 동아시아의 상호 연결성에 대한 시야를 얻을 수 있게 될 것이다.

반역자들의 종교 – 심문 기록으로 보는 조선후기 종교사

조선시대의 반역 사건을 종교사적, 비교사적 관점에서 검토한다. 조선시대 반역자들의 심문기록을 통해 당대의 저항 정치 및 종교 문화의 특징을 이해하며, 반역자들의 현실인식과 지향이 한국 종교의 언어를 통해 표현된 방식을 확인하고 그 의미를 평가한다.

 
This lecture examines the interrogation records of the leaders of the treason cases in the late Joseon Dynasty from the perspective of a religious history and a comparative history. Through the lecture, students can understand the ways in which the traitors’ perception of reality and their aspirations were expressed through religious language in Korea and what this phenomenon mean. The lecture also explores the characteristics of resistance politics and religious culture at that time.

유교와 불교는 오랫동안 동아시아 사회에서 그 영향력을 행사해 왔다. 두 종교 철학은 각 국가가 요구한 정치적 기능을 수행하였을 뿐만 아니라 동아시아의 활발한 국제 교류를 가능하게 한 지적, 문화적 기반이기도 했다. 현대 사회에서도 여전히 유교와 불교의 정신세계, 가치관의 범주와 긴밀한 관계성 속에서 살아가고 있다. 본 강좌는 동아시아의 공통자산이라 할 수 있는 유교와 불교를 깊이 이해하고, 이를 통해 한국 사회의 역사적 경험과고유한 특질을 조망한다. 나아가 유교와 불교의 핵심 세계관과 변화상에 대한 역사적 맥락을 탐색하고, 이에 기초하여 시대와 공간의 변화에 따라 정신적·문화적 자산이 어떤 모습과 의미로 지속 또는 단절되는지 살펴볼 수 있다.

 
Not only did Confucianism and Buddhism perform political and social functions in each East Asian country, but they were also the intellectual and cultural foundations of East Asian society. Moreover, they were deeply embedded in all areas of state affairs, socioeconomics, ideology, and religion throughout Korean history, serving as both a spirit and a way of life, as well as the criteria for public and private daily judgments and choices. This course examines the historical experience of Korean society and its unique characteristics based on an understanding of Confucianism and Buddhism, the common assets of East Asia.
